Lynchburg ends the 2003-04 regular season with 5-13 mark in conference play, tied with Washington & Lee University for eighth place in the league standings. The Hornets were awarded the final berth into the eight-team ODAC Championship Tournament this weekend, holding the tiebreaker advantage over the Generals.
Randolph-Macon held a 34-26 halftime lead but Lynchburg chipped away and trailed by just five early in the second half (39-34) after a lay-up by Ryan Pehanick. The Yellow Jackets quickly used a 5-0 run to go ahead by double figures and led by at least eight points the rest of the way.
Senior guard Dedrick Craft scored 12 points for Lynchburg, nailing three three-pointers. Pehanick also added 12 points, and Andy Albright scored 10.
Ryan Stein scored 14 points for Randolph-Macon (22-3/16-2 ODAC), which clinched the top seed in the ODAC Tournament with the win. Kurt Bergmann tallied 12 points.
Lynchburg will face Randolph-Macon for the third time this season in a first-round ODAC game Saturday at 1 p.m. It is the first time LC has advanced to the postseason since 2000-2001.
