The For the first nine minutes, the Eagles and the Knights exchanged baskets with Josh Hook (Wilkes Barre, PA/ Bishop O’Reilly) leading the way for the Eagles with six early points. The Knights picked up their first fourteen points on inside baskets from their big players. The Knights put together an 8 point run to stretch their lead to 26-15 with ten minutes remaining. Eastern threw a nine point run of their own on buckets by Bryan Nadelhoffer (Aurora, IL/ Tigard [OR]), Brent Voorhees (Grandville, MI/ Tri-Unity), Ryan Tozer (Norwood, PA/ Friends Central), and Chris McMonagle (Lancaster, PA/ Catholic). The Eagles were unable to take the lead and saw the Knights gradually pull away to an eight-point halftime advantage.
The second half opened with the Eagles scoring on a flurry of possessions to forge their third tie of the game on consecutive three pointers from freshman point guard Lenny DiMaria (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown) and Tozer. Eastern was unable to take the lead as the Knights once again forged a seven point advantage. A Gus Nadelhoffer (Aurora, IL/ Tigard [OR]) power layup tied the game for the fourth time at the 2:18 mark of the game, but the Knights scored their next two possessions and converted their free throws to stretch the final margin to eight.
Gus Nadelhoffer led the Eagles with 17 points and 8 boards and was joined in double figures by Tozer (14), DiMaria (11), and Hook (10). The Eagles return to action on their home floor Wednesday as they take on Wesley in an eight o’clock game.
