David Guy led the team with 14 points.
Mount Union jumped out to a quick 17-9 lead after five minutes, and increased their advantage to 11 with 4:11 to play. The Quakers proceeded to open an 11-0 run to tie the game at 32 before Mt. Union's Brad Gerard hit a three-point basket at the halftime buzzer to give the visitors a three-point lead heading into the locker room.
Mount Union scored the first six points of the second half, opening a six-point lead that they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. The lead grew to double figures with 13:51 to play, as the Purple Raiders cruised in the 23-point win.
Guy led the Quaker scorers with 14 points while Deon Short scored 12 and Tyran Thompson and Stephen Gee each scored 11. Josh Rohrbacher pulled down a team-best six rebounds while Gee dished out four assists to lead the squad.
Mount Union was led by Chris Blakely and Brett Hershberger, who each scored 14 points while Rob Paulauskas scored 13 and Curtis Stevens and Kyle Karpinski each put up 10. Clay Sanders and Hershberger each pulled down seven rebounds to lead the team while Sanders dished out a game-high 11 assists.
With the loss the Quakers fall to 1-22 on the season and 1-15 in the OAC while Mount Union improves to 14-9 and 9-7 in conference action.
The next game for the Green and White is on Wednesday, February 18 when the team travels north to Westerville, Ohio to face off against the Cardinals of Otterbein College with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
