The victory helped the Nor'easters (7-15, 5-8 CCC) remain in the hunt for the final playoff berth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference's North Division. The Crusaders dropped their fourth straight to fall to 6-16 (4-10 CCC).
The Nor'easters outscored Eastern Nazarene 24-9 over the opening 12:10 and led by 13 more for the remainder of the half. The Crusaders shot 17.8 percent (5 of 28) from the floor in the opening frame and missed all 13 of their three-point attempts.
UNE breezed thru the entire second half, with their smallest margin (44-29) coming at the13:54 mark.. The Nor'easters converted 52.2 percent (12 of 23) of their field goal attempts after halftime.
Sophomore Matt McManus (Cumberland, R.I.) made six 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 18 points for UNE. Berthiaume and Farynaz scored 16 and 12, respectively, while sophomore Mark Oliver (Gloucester, Mass.) netted 10. First-year forward Tom Button (Lyndeborough, N.H.) contributed seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
For the Crusaders, first-year forward Dave Duda (New Milford, Conn.) tallied a team-high 15 points, and junior Edson Cardoso (Dorchester, Mass.) scored 11.
The Nor'easters will travel to New England College on Tuesday for a pivotal contest in their quest for a tourney berth.
