Rockford 75, Benedictine 72

LISLE, Ill. — The Benedictine University men's basketball team went into today's Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC) game looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss in overtime earlier in the week. The Eagles, who were playing on the road, went up against Rockford College and fell just short suffering a 75-72 loss.

The first half ended with the Eagles trailing 39-29. After trailing by much as 15 points, the Eagles went on a 23-6 run midway through the second half and with three minutes remaining they took their first lead at 67-65. The Eagles were unable to hold onto the lead and dropped their second straight conference game.

For the game, the Eagles out rebounded their opponents 46-29 that included an impressive 20 offensive boards thanks to a big effort by sophomore Jimmy Franklin. Franklin recorded his second double double of the season, while leading the Eagles with 17 points and 13 rebounds that included nine offensive boards in 28 minutes of action.

Sophomore Matt Harrison and senior Bryan Uselding chipped in 14 points apiece. Harrison added seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals, while Uselding contributed five rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals.

Junior guard Zach Ramey scored 13 points and added two rebounds, two assists and a block in 33 minutes of action.

Junior Will Crawford was the only other Eagle to score in double figures as he finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
