Lycoming 85, FDU-Florham 63

Williamsport, Pa. — The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted FDU-Florham, Saturday afternoon, as the second game of a Freedom Conference doubleheader. The Warriors gave up the game’s first basket, but never trailed again running away with an 85-63 victory. Lycoming improves to 17-5 overall and 9-2 in the conference with the win. They also secure a berth in the Freedom Conference tournament and keep pace with DeSales University for the number-one seed. The Devils fall to 10-12 and 5-7.

FDU scored the first points of the game on a lay-up by Jeff Hemschoot, but Brad Musser answered for the Warriors with a triple at the other end, giving Lycoming a lead they would never relinquish. A 24-10 run over the final 10 minutes of the opening period gave the Warriors a 45-28 cushion at the half.

The second half continued to be all Lycoming as the home team extended their lead to 30 before clearing the bench with five minutes to play.

The Warriors were led by Matt Stackhouse with 17 points and 15 rebounds in his first start since January 6. L.J. Huggler added 16 points and nine boards as Lycoming dominated the paint. Curtis Mays came off the bench to chip in 10 markers. Shaun Morris led the squad with five assists and set a new single-season Warrior record with 119 assists so far this year.

The Devils were led by Jamaal Ford and Hemschoot with 13 points each. Pierre Schmitt added nine markers off the bench.
