Tri-State 100, Kalamazoo 99

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team suffered a 100-99 non-conference loss to Tri-State University on Saturday. Tri-State led 49-44 at halftime.

Kalamazoo shot 58.8 percent from the field and hit 7-of-14 three-pointers while holding Tri-State to 42.3 percent shooting, however the Thunder connected on 15-of-45 from behind the arch. Kalamazoo held a 52-31 rebounding advantage, but committed 14 more turnovers (25-11) than the Thunder. Kalamazoo was 12-of-17 at the line while Tri-State meshed 19-of-25.

Tony Wichmann and Jeff Oney (career-high) led Kalamazoo with 18 points each. Jevon Caldwell-Gross added 14 points, and Chris Elliott finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Robert Boyle had nine points and six assists.

Britain Flowers led Tri-State with 19 points. Brandon O'Leary added 17 points. Brandon Appleton and Luke Amstutz each scored 14 points. Micah Williams finished with 11 points for the Thunder (11-12).

Kalamazoo returns to conference action next Wednesday at Adrian.
