Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to the early lead and never looked back. The Marlins led by as many as 14 points in the first half when Peter Warren made a jumper to give the Marlins a 26-12 lead. The Eagles made a run at the end of the half to cut the deficit to 6 points, 28-22 at halftime. Ricky Easterling scored the last 4 points of the half.
In the second half, Virginia Wesleyan led by as many as 23 points, 67-44 at the 6:13 mark. Bridgewater narrowed the deficit to 15 points when Jared Chalk made a layup with 1:34 remaining, but that was as close as the Eagles would get.
Peter Warren led four Marlin players in double figures with 18 points. He was followed by David Doino with 16 points, Tim Gardiner with 11 points, and Marques Fitch with 10 points. Doino also led Virginia Wesleyan with 8 rebounds.
For the Eagles, Ricky Easterling led the way by scoring a game-high 22 points. He was joined in double figures by teammate Jeff Schwalm, who poured in 15 points. Seniors Schwalm and Ryan Lambert each led the Eagles in rebounds with seven apiece. Easterling also pulled down 6 rebounds.
Virginia Wesleyan now improves to 17-7 overall and 10-7 in the ODAC while Bridgewater drops to 12-12 overall and 6-11 in the ODAC.
