Trinity (18-4, 9-2 SCAC) led 43-27 at halftime, and never really let Sewanee into the game. The teams combined for 44 fouls in the game, and Trinity hit 22 straight free throws before missing its first in the second half. Trinity finished 26-28 from the line, while Sewanee was 15-26 from the charity stripe.
Ross Burt poured in a game-high 18 points off the bench, hitting 7-10 from the field, both of his free throws, and was 2-2 from beyond the arc. Burt also added six rebounds in his 14 minutes of play.
Nick Williams hit three three-pointers for Sewanee, as he scored a team-best 16 points in 28 minutes off the bench. Williams filled in niceley for starter Aaron Breeden, who came out of the game after just two minutes with an apparent injury.
Trinity's Sean Devins and Andy Bates each added 14 points for the TU Tigers, while Jason Morris chipped in with 13 points. Devins also had five blocks and a game-high seven rebounds, despite playing just 19 minutes with foul trouble. Bates was 6-6 from the line, and also had five rebounds and three steals. Morris had three steals and three assists to go with his five rebounds.
Joey Garcia hit 4-7 form the field to finish with 12 points for Sewanee, while Michael Brown hit 4-8 field goals for 11 points.
Trinity shot 50.8% from the floor in the game, including 53.3% in the second half. Sewanee was held under 40% shooting for the game, despite a 45.2% second half.
Trinity will face Centre College on Sunday in continued SCAC action. Centre lost to Southwestern tonight, but the Colonels are still third in the standings behind Trinity and Rose-Hulman.
