The Bombers moved into a third-place tie in the Empire 8 standings with a 72-61 win over Alfred. Ithaca erased the Saxons’ seven-point halftime lead with a 20-4 run that opened the second period, then took the lead for good on a pair of free throws by sophomore forward Brian Andruskiewicz (Montville/Oakdale, Conn.) with 3:31 left to play. Andruskiewicz scored a career-high 21 points and added a team-leading 10 rebounds. Senior forward Tyler Schulz (Monroe-Woodbury/Monroe) collected 21 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Junior guard Jim Bellis (Bloomfield Central/Bloomfield) added 13 points and sophomore point guard Jonathan Whetstone (Palo Alto/Palo Alto, Calif.) contributed seven rebounds and five assists.
Ryan Hallett scored 16 points to lead the Saxons. Dillon Stein added 14 points and three rebounds.
