Keller hit his first five shots of the game, including three from long distance, to put the Bears ahead 19-11 with 14:32 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Scott Stone and freshman Brandon York connected on back-to-back three-pointers to cap a 15-2 run as Washington U. expanded its lead to 46-27 with 3:30 left.
Keller led the Bears with 19 points in the first half on 7-of-9 shooting, including 5-of-7 from three-point range. Stone added 11 points in the opening half on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc. Washington U. hit 9-of-14 (.643) three-pointers in the opening half. The Bears shot 21-of-37 (.568) from the field as WU held a 54-40 advantage in the first half. The 54 points scored is the second highest point total of the season in a half.
Case Western Reserve (4-16, 2-7 UAA) cut the lead to Washington U. 61-55 with 14:23 left in the second half as Carson Owen scored on a driving lay-up. The Bears scored the next eight points as Stone nailed his fifth three-pointer of the game to put WU up 69-55. Keller drained his sixth three of the game, and junior Anthony Hollins scored on an alley-oop dunk as the Bears put the game out of reach at 83-69.
Stone finished with 20 points and seven assists while senior Ryan DeBoer had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Hollins added 10 points and nine rebounds in the win. Funso Lafe scored 27 points and Carson Oren added 25 for Case Western Reserve.
Washington University (16-5, 8-2 UAA) returns to action on Sun., Feb. 15 at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. (ET) at the Woodruff P.E. Center.
