SUNY BROCKPORT MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS NINTH STRAIGHT

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Senior Randy Bills (Fairport/Fairport) scored a career high 26 points as SUNY Brockport defeated Potsdam, 90-85 at Tuttle North Gym Friday night.
The Golden Eagles won their ninth straight and have been victorious in 11 of the last 12. Brockport improved to 16-6 overall and 12-1 atop the SUNYAC standings. Potsdam fell to 12-9 overall and 7-5 in the conference.
Bills made seven of 14 shots from the floor and hit all eight of his free throw attempts. He has now scored 68 points in the last three games.
Charlie Croff (Lockport) had 18 points and a team-high eight rebounds for Brockport, while hitting six of eight shots. Bryan Boswell (Amherst/Sweet Home) dished out eight assists. The Golden Eagles shot 51% for the night, including 53% (10-19) in the second half. Brockport also shot 79% from the line for the game and made 22 of 28 (79%) from the charity stripe in the second half.
Christian Turner (Central Square) led the Bears with 20 points and eight boards, making 8 of 10 from the line. Evril Clayton (Albany/Manhattan College) scored 17 and Eldon Harris (Albany) added 16 points.
Brockport led by seven at the half, 42-35, and opened up a 14-point lead at 51-37 with 17:29 left in the second stanza. But the Bears went on a 20-8 run in the next 5:08 to pull to within two at 56-54 with 12:21 remaining. Brockport went on another run of 16-4 in the next 3:36 to open it up to 72-58 with under nine minutes remaining. With the Golden Eagles leading by three at 79-76 with 3:45 left, Croff made a three-pointer and Boswell added a layup for an eight-point advantage (84-76) with 1:30 to play.
SUNY Brockport features "Take a Kid to the Game Day" tomorrow, as kids 12 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult to the 4 p.m. Plattsburgh game. It will also be "Senior Day" for the Golden Eagles.
