Muskingum 55, Wilmington 43

Wilmington, Ohio —
The Wilmington College Quakers fell victim to 37.2% (16-of-43) shooting in a 55-43 loss to Muskingum College on Wednesday evening.

Deon Short scored a game-high 16 points while pulling down seven rebounds to lead the squad.

The Quakers found themselves trailing 9-0 after the first three minutes of the game, and by 14 at 16-2 with 14:40 to play. The Quakers cut the deficit to nine points twice in the first half, before the Muskies went into the locker room with an 11-point, 29-18 lead.

The Quakers came out firing in the second half, opening a 13-2 run to start the half, tying the game at 32 with 12:11 to play in the game. Muskingum proceeded to go on a 17-7 run to open a 10-point lead, as the visitors from New Concord cruised the rest of the way in the 12-point win.

Short led the team with 16 points while Luke Wolfinbarger and David Guy each scored eight points while Mike Umpleby chipped in five. Short pulled down seven rebounds to lead the team, while Guy and Gee each grabbed five.

Muskingum was led by Jeff Smallwood and Jach Ross who each scored 13 points while Cole Pittus scored a dozen for the visitors. Matt Dansby had a game-high eight rebounds while he and Cliff Sprang each dished out four assists.

With the loss the Quakers fall to 1-21 on the season and 1-14 in the OAC while Muskingum improves to 10-12 overall and 5-9 in league action.

The next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, February 14 when the team hosts Mt. Union College on "Bring A Kid To The Game" day.
