The Presidents held a 36-35 halftime lead, but the Tomcats (8-14, 2-5 PAC) scored 13 of the first 20 points in the second half to assume a 48-43 lead at the 17:03 mark.
TC stretched its lead to 57-51 with just under 10 minutes remaining, but W&J rallied for seven-straight points to take a 58-51 lead at the 8:18 mark after a lay-up by junior forward Steve Button (Linesville, Pa./Linesville).
The Tomcats then took back the lead with seven of the next 10 points and Moore took over in the final minutes to help Thiel escape with the five-point win.
Freshman guard Jon Koch (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) led the Presidents with 13 points and six rebounds, while Button added 12 points and seven boards. Sophomore forward Phil Maslar (Brecksville, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) came off the bench to score 10 markers, including three triples. W&J shot 48 percent (24-for-50) and held a 35-29 advantage on the glass, but committed 20 turnovers.
Sophomore forward Stephen Laird (Galion, Ohio/Galion) scored a game-high 19 points for Thiel, while senior forward D.J. Gambridge (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) added 18. Senior forward Mike Banach (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) also totaled 14 points, nine assists, five rebounds and five steals.
W&J (7-15, 1-6 PAC) looks to avenge a 90-64 loss to Bethany earlier this season when they host the Bison in the home regular-season finale on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
