Stanton, the leading scorer in Division III, finished with 38 points including eight three-pointers. Mike McGarvey added 16 points and seven assists breaking the Ursinus record for assists in a season with 148.
David Glaser led the Bullets with 25 points while Dami Oloruntoba added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bears and Bullets battled through a first half which saw six ties and eight lead changes. Ursinus led by as many as five points as Stanton scored 23 of his points in the first half but the teams went into the locker rooms tied at 40-40.
Ursinus used a 13-5 spurt to open the second half and took a 53-45 lead on a Stanton three with 13:44 left.
Gettysburg answered with a 10-0 run and took a 55-53 lead with just over ten minutes left in the game.
A McGarvey three-point basket and a Matt Fabian (10 points) layup sandwiched around a Glaser jumper put the Bears back in front by one, 58-57.
But the Bullets answered again. This time Matt Whelan hit a pair of three's and Erik Fromm added a jumper as Gettysburg scored eight straight points to take a 65-58 lead with 7:33 left.
A pair of free throws by Brian McEvily cut the Bullet lead to 65-62 but Whelan quickly answered with a three-pointer to put his team back up six with 4:40 left in the game.
After McGarvey's three and a freebie by Ted Piotrowicz cut the Gettysburg lead to 68-66, Whelan converted two free throws of his own for a 70-66 lead.
As he has done all year, Stanton answered. He cut the lead to two with a layup and converted a three-point play to give Ursinus a 71-70 lead with 2:34 left.
Glaser hit a pair of free throws to put Gettysburg back in front before Stanton drilled a three-pointer to give the Bears a 74-72 lead with just over two minutes remaining.
Gettysburg tied the game on a layup by Oloruntoba but Stanton converted the second of two free throws for what turned out to be the game-winner.
On the Bullets next possession Piotrowicz stripped the ball and knocked if off a Gettysburg player to help Ursinus preserve the win.
