DeSales (18-3, 8-3 Freedom) had its lead cut to seven points late in the second half when Zinn knocked down the trey giving him 160 for his career as he passed the Bulldogs all-time leading scorer, Jason Moyer, for first on the three-pointers made list. The Bulldogs had taken control of the game midway through the first half after FDU-Florham (10-11, 5-6 Freedom) trailed by just two points, 18-16. DSU went on an 18-3 run over a five-minute span to lead by 17 points, 36-19.
Junior Michael Venafra started the run with a three-pointer and fellow junior Kyle Koch ended it with two consecutive treys as he scored all 10 of his points during the spurt. The lead was as high as 14 tallies in the second half before the Devils began chipping away and trailed by just seven and had possession of the ball before a DeSales defensive stop and the Zinn three-pointer sealed the win.
Zinn finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting, as he now needs just 38 points to become the 17th player in school history to score 1,000 career points. Also reaching double digits was Venafra with 13 markers and four assists and junior David Spadt added 11 points and six rebounds off the bench. Koch finished the game with 10 points and six rebounds and junior David Bright also tallied 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Chris Hendershot had an excellent game for the Devils recording a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Jeff Hemschoot and Jamaal Ford each added a team-high 18 tallies in the loss.
