Capital’s record stands at 16-6 overall, 10-5 in the OAC following the win, while Mount Union falls to 13-9 overall, 8-7 in the OAC.
Beck posted 15 of his 19 points in the first half as the Crusaders led by as many as seven points and trailed only once, taking a 35-31 lead into the locker room at the half.
In the second half, Capital opened with an 8-2 run, taking a 43-33 lead with 17:22 remaining. The Crusaders maintained a 10-point lead throughout most of the final 20 minutes before settling for the 73-64 final.
Along with Beck, fellow seniors Adam Stolly, Tyler Alexander, and Chuck Bihn managed 15, 13, and 10 points respectively.
Chris Blakely led the way for the Purple Raiders with 12 points. Rob Paulauskas, Curtis Stevens, Brett Hershberger, and Kyle Karpinski all scored 10 points for Mount Union.
