There were 10 lead changes in the game, five by each team. And there were nine ties, the last coming when Small sank the first of two free throws (46-46 at the 14:16 mark in the second half). Small made his next free throw and the Colonels led the rest of the way.
Small also contributed six of his team’s nine steals as Curry forced 19 Salve Regina turnovers. The Colonels converted those turnovers into 24 points. Curry also had eight fast-break points while Salve Regina had none.
James Bartelle [Fr./Dorchester MA] came off the bench to hit a pair of three-pointers in the second half for Curry. Mike Ifill [Jr./Marlboro MA] and Nick Reiph [Sr./Norwalk CT] each scored nine in the win. Curry (11-9; 8-3 CCC) has now won seven straight conference games and leads the league’s South Division standings.
Salve Regina (5-16; 5-8 CCC) was led by Greg Kawula [Sr./Ridgefield NJ], who posted his sixth double-double of the season, and third in the last four games, with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Matt Coute [So./Somerset MA] added 11 points while Chris Collier [Jr./Exeter NH] contributed 14 boards.
