Maryville pulled out their fourth straight victory despite shooting only 36 percent (27-75) from the field, 13 percent (4-30) from three-point range and 44 percent (8-18) from the charity stripe. Bash helped the Saints field goal percentage for the game by shooting 8-10 (.800) from the field.
The Panthers were 17-52 (.327) from the field, 3-16 (.188) from behind the arc and 11-15 (.733) from the free throw line. James Aimonetti led the Panthers offensive attack with 14 points on 5-8 (.625) shooting from the field, including 1-2 (.500) from three-point range and 3-3 (1.000) from the line. Tucker Fendon added a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards, while John Tegtmeyer grabbed 10 rebounds in Principia's effort.
All but one player scored for Maryville. Sophomore Matt Regan was the lone non-scorer, but he did grab a career-high nine boards to help the Saints outrebound the Panthers 48-32, including 19-4 on the offensive glass. Sophomore Ben Hebl chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds, while junior transfer Andrew Hulbert tallied eight points, six boards and three assists.
Maryville will look to remain atop the SLIAC standings when they travel to MacMurray College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. conference matchup with the Highlanders.
