Monmouth 80, Concordia (Ill.) 50

MONMOUTH, Ill. — The Monmouth Fighting Scots used a 15-0 run to take control of the game midway through the first half, and the outcome was never in doubt after that as they went on to post an 80-50 victory over Concordia University-River Forest.
Travis Miller scored three straight unassisted hoops to fuel the run, which also included a pair of treys by Anthony Beaird. After surrendering the first hoop of the second half, the Scots were at it again, scoring 16 consecutive points, capped by two Troy Bennett free throws with 13:29 remaining that made the score 57-26. With the Scots leading 62-31, coach Terry Glasgow emptied his bench, and two players, Kevin Conrad and Tyler Gumm, scored the first baskets of their MC careers.
Rob Purlee led the Scots, now 7-13 overall, with 17 points. Miller added 16 points, Beaird scored 11 and Bennett had 10. CURF (3-19) was led by John Clancy, who scored 15.
