Guilford 109, Eastern Mennonite 67

Greensboro, NC — Sophomore Genaro Lawhorn (Greensboro, NC/Oak Ridge Military Academy) scored a game-high 21 points off the bench to lead five Guilford players in double-figure scoring in the Quakers' 109-67 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's basketball win over Eastern Mennonite Sunday.
The Quakers (14-8, 10-5 ODAC) shot a season-high 56.3 percent from the floor in their eighth win in nine games, including 69.2 percent in the first half. Guilford made 10 of 14 three-pointers in the opening period and grabbed a 69-31 halftime lead. The Quakers' 109 points also marked a season high.
After the Quakers missed their first two shots of the game, Guilford made 11 of its next 13 shots, including six three-pointers. Guilford made five consecutive trifectas during one stretch of the first half. The Royals (4-18, 2-13 ODAC) could not maintain the hosts' blistering pace and trailed by 16 points just over five and a half minutes into the game. The Quakers' edge was 30 points by the 14-minute mark and 69-31 at halftime.
Jevon Clarke (Apex, NC/Southeast Raleigh), one of Guilford's seven seniors making their final home appearances in the game, tallied 17 points and six rebounds in 19 minutes. He moved within 11 points of 1,000 for his career. Classmates Devon Clyburn (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenburg), Thomas Swindell (High Point, NC/Southwest Guilford) and Eric Williams (Greenville, SC/Southside) scored 12 points apiece for Guilford. Williams and sophomore Jamel Taylor (Palm Bay, FL/Brevard Christian) shared team-high rebounding honors with seven, career highs for both players. Clarence Martin (Reidsville, NC/Reidsville) contributed a game-high five assists and three of the Quakers' 13 steals in 15 minutes of work.
Junior E.J. Arrington (Staunton, VA/Stuarts Draft) scored 16 points and Jason Sager (Edinburg, VA/Central) added 12 points for the Royals. Jason Lentz (Diana, WV/Webster County) had a game-high eight boards.
