Webster University’s forward, Angie Carr, scored 31 points in the 81-70 conference win over Westminster College. She is the fourth women’s basketball player from Webster to reach this milestone. She joins teammate Tara Fortschneider who hit the mark earlier this season.
Carr, a 5’8” junior from Springfield, Mo., is currently third on the career list for rebounds (507) and free throws made (247). She leads the Gorloks this year in points (278) and rebounds (121).
Head Coach Ryan Barke said, “It is a great individual accomplishment for Angie and an even greater accomplishment for all of the players who have played with her and made this possible.”
Senior Brady Barke scored 17 points and added 7 rebounds as the men’s team defeated Westminster 62-58. Barke (Pittsfield, Ill.) joins four former Webster players in the men’s 1,000 point club. In addition, he is third on the career list for free throws made (197) and sixth for 3 point field goals (129). He leads the team in scoring (341 pts) and rebounds (108).
“I am very proud of Brady. Breaking the 1,000 point barrier is a testimony to his diligence, work ethic and persistence,” stated men’s Head Coach Chris Bunch
The women’s team is now 7-11 this season and 3-4 in conference play. The men’s team is 12-7 overall and 4-4 in conference. Webster University will host Fontbonne College for a double header on Saturday, Feb. 14. The women’s game begins at 1 p.m. and the men’s at 3 p.m.
