Indianola, Iowa — Matt Brown's free throw with one second remaining gave Simpson a 74-73 victory over Dubuque Feb. 7 in Indianola. The Storm led 56-43 with 14:33 remaining, but the Spartans went on a 17-3 run to take a one-point lead. Simpson outscored the Spartans 8-4 over the five minutes to regain the lead. The Storm held a 73-69 lead with 3:14 and the ball.

Dubuque rallied, tying the score at 73 with 50 seconds to gowhen JD Henderson connected onhis fourth three-pointer of the night.  Simpson held the possession, failing to score on their first attempt, but Nick Boyd grabbed the Jason Snyder miss, allowing the Storm to call timeout with 21 seconds remaining.

Simpson called a set play for Brown who drove to the basket and was fouled by Norris Langford. The 6-5 Bettendorf native made his first free throw and called timeout. Brown missed the second attempt on purpose, a long distance heave by Henderson was no good, giving Simpson its second straight one-point win.

Brown led Simpson with 17 points. Snyder had 14. Jason Soppe scored eight points and pulled down a career high 10 rebounds.

Henderson led all scorers with 31 points. The senior point guard from Milwaukee went 8-16 from the field (4-6 from three-point range) and was 11-17 from the free throw line. Marlon Griffin added 12 for Dubuque.
