Albion 76, Hope 60

Holland, Mich. — An unflappable Albion basketball team tagged Hope with its first home floor defeat of the season Saturday night topping the Flying Dutchmen 76-60 before a soldout Civic Center crowd.

The defeat gave hope to the teams chasing the Flying Dutchmen in the MIAA standings. Hope stands 6-2 while half-a-game behind are Albion (6-3) and Calvin (6-3). Adrian followed a game back at 5-3.

Albion never trailed in the game gaining a 36-24 halftime advantage by holding the Flying Dutchmen to just six baskets over 20 minutes. Hope would come no closer than eight points in the second half and with six minutes left Albion enjoyed a 21 point advantage.

The Flying Dutchmen shot just 38% from the floor, including only 5-for-15 from three-point range.

Freshman Stephen Cramer led the Dutchmen with 14 points while Greg Immink added 12 and Andy Phillips 11.

Game honors went to Albion's Marcus Gill with 20 points behind five three-pointers.
