MILLS' CAREER HIGH 26 POINTS LEADS SUNY BROCKPORT VICTORY
Golden Eagles win seventh straight
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Senior Brandon Mills (Rochester/Spencerport) scored a career-high 26 points to lead SUNY Brockport to a 111-76 victory over SUNYIT on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles, winners of seven straight, improved to 10-1 to lead the SUNYAC standings. Brockport is now 14-6 overall. The Wildcats fell to 12-8 overall and 6-5 in the conference. SUNY Brockport recorded the most points in a game since December 8, 2000, when the Golden Eagles defeated Plattsburgh at home, 113-96.
Mills made 10 of 13 shots from the floor and was six for six from the line. He also had seven rebounds and two steals.
Senior Charlie Croff (Lockport) recorded a fifth straight double-double, with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Croff has 10 double-doubles on the season, and had 13 points and 10 rebounds in the second half. Randy Bills (Fairport/Fairport) scored 21 points and added four rebounds for the Golden Eagles.
SUNYIT had five players in double figures, led by Nick Grimmer (New Hartford), who had 17 opints with seven rebounds. Rich Phillips added 13 points with eight boards for the Wildcats, who shot 40% for the game. Brockport outrebounded the visitors, 50-31.
The Golden Eagles had a 48-37 halftime lead, and the Wildcats pulled to within eight at 66-58 with 12:29 remaining. Brockport then went on a 20-6 run in the next 5:43 for an 86-64 lead with 6:46 remaining to pull away.
SUNY Brockport now stands 7-0 at home this season and 6-0 at home in the conference. The Golden Eagles return to action Tuesday night at Fredonia at 8 p.m.
