Senior guard Matt Magnusen led the Gators with 15 points with senior guard Billy Dungee adding 14 points, including 4-of-10 from long range. Senior forward Matt Majzlik added 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
The teams traded the lead through the first 15 minutes of the game, but Dungee hit a three-pointer to put Allegheny ahead 26-24, the Gators followed with the next eight points and were never threatened again. Allegheny took a 10-margin, 37-27, into halftime and never came within six points for the remainder of the game.
Denison converted just 31.3 percent (15-48) from the field and committed 16 turnovers. Danny Hodgkinson had 13 points and 12 rebounds to pace the Big Red and Tony Julian added 11 points and five boards.
The Gators, at .500 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with a 6-6 mark for the first time this season, still have games against first-place Wittenberg, second-place Wooster and third-place Ohio Wesleyan left on their slate. Allegheny returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, February 11, as they travel to Wooster for a 7:30 p.m. game against the seventh-ranked Fighting Scots.
