Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (February 6, 2004) – Freshman forward Nick Jones (Washington D.C.) scored 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting to lead Clarkson University to an 82-64 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association men's basketball victory over Vassar College Friday evening at the Athletic and Fitness Center.
Leading 38-36 early in the second half, Clarkson (13-6, 7-1 UCAA) went on a 26-8 run to take a commanding 64-44 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the game. The Golden Knights got 40 points from their bench players including 14 points from junior forward John Adamchick (Clifton Park, N.Y.). Senior guard Kevin Williams (Syracuse, N.Y.) added ten points and seven rebounds.
Vassar (3-15, 0-8 UCAA) was led by junior guard Jud Winton (San Francisco, Calif.) with 14 points. Junior guard Seth Taft (Philadelphia, Penn.) added 13 points, while sophomore center Kyle Dickmann (Union, Ky.) tallied 11 points in just 15 minutes of play.
Vassar hosts St. Lawrence University tomorrow at 4 p.m. Clarkson travels to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for a 4 p.m. match as well.
