Loras took a 62-59 lead with 23 seconds to go on a pair of Matt Murray free throws. The Storm tied at 62 when Ryan Hittenmiller hit his third three point field goal of the night with 16 seconds remaining. Loras did not call timeout, creating a set play for Jeff Ludovissy who drove through the lane to the Duhawks up with two seconds in regulation.
Simpson called timeout. Scott Ellens inbounded the ball to Jason Soppe at midcourt, Soppe found Boyd who took his three just as the horn sounded, the ball went in and Simpson swept Loras in the regular season for the first time since 1999-2000 season.
Hittenmiller led Simpson with 17 points. Ludovissy led all scorers with 29 points. He was 10-13 from the field and 5-8 from beyond the three-point arc. Dwayne Penn pulled down a game high 10 rebounds.
