Plattsburgh State 78, New Paltz State 66

New Paltz, NY — Johnny Carter and Curtis Smith each scored 23 points as the Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team remained in contention for a SUNYAC post-season tournament spot with a 78-66-conference road victory over New Paltz Friday night in New Paltz.
Smith also led the Cardinals (10-9 overall, 4-6 SUNYAC) with 10 rebounds, seven assists and four steals while Carter grabbed nine rebounds.
The Cards shot an impressive 55 percent in the second half and finished the game hitting 52.5% of their shots from the field and also outrebounded the Hawks 42-27.
The Cardinals continue SUNYAC play with a 4 p.m. road game at Oneonta State on Saturday afternoon.
