The College of Staten Island Dolphins needed another come-from-behind rally on Wednesday in order to beat York College, 63-56, in Jamaica, Queens. Playing in front of a hostile York crowd, CSI found themselves down by three at the half, 31-28, after a less than stellar first stanza. While Michael Stewart had the hot hand with 14 first-half points on 6-10 shooting, the rest of the squad connected on only 5 of 19 shots before the break. The Dolphins needed someone else to step up in the second half to put away the pesky Cardinals, and Michael Nebavlakis answered the call. The junior scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half to help lead the Dolphins to their ninth CUNY conference victory against only two losses. With the win, the Dolphins have now clinched first place in the CUNYAC's south division going into the upcoming CUNYAC Basketball Championship Tournament, which will be held at York College February 21-27. The Dolphins led by only one point, 57-56 after a York steal and bucket with 1:50 remaining in regulation. But Stewart was fouled and went on to hit five of six free throws in the last 1:45 as CSI scored the game's final six points. Next up for the Dolphins will be a rare late-season non-conference matchup at Montclair State on Saturday. The Red Hawks are coming off of a huge win over NJAC leader New Jersey City University. Game time for Saturday is set for 2pm on the campus of Montclair State.
