Capital 66, Wilmington 57

Wilmington, Oh. — The Wilmington College Quakers trailed by 21 at 25-4 with 6:57 to play in the first half. The Quakers then fought their way back and ended the game trailing by nine at 66-57.

David Guy scored a game-high 19 points while Deon Short scored 13.

The Quakers struggled early to find the bottom of the net, as they got their first points of the game with 13:15 to play after Capital opened the game with a 10-0 run. The Crusader lead grew to as many as 21 at 25-4 with 6:57 left in the first half before the Green and White started chipping away at the deficit. The Quakers used a 13-2 run to cut the Capital lead to nine with 2:52 before Capital used a late run to take a 13-point, 36-23 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Crusaders got on the board first with a layup 25-seconds into play before the Quakers cut the lead to nine with an 8-2 run. The hosts would get as close as five with 33-seconds to play, but the Crusaders hit 4-of-4 free throws down the stretch to seal the nine-point win.

Guy led the Quakers with 19 points while Short scored 13. Stephen Gee put up seven points while Luke Wolfinbarger and B.J. Gordoneach scored six for the hosts. Guy pulled down a team-high seven rebounds while Short and Josh Rohrbacher each dished out four assists.

Capital was led by Adam Stolly who scored 18 points while Tyler Alexander scored 17 and Chuck Bihn put in 12. Bihn pulled down 11 rebounds as Alexander grabbed 10 to complete a pair of double-doubles. David Johnson pilfered five steals for the visitors, as they forced 22 turnovers, 15 in the first half.

With the loss the Quakers fall to 1-19 on the season and 1-12 in the OAC while Capital improves to 15-5 overall and 9-4 in conference play.

The next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, February 7 when the team travels north to University Heights, Ohio to face off against the Blue Streaks of John Carroll University with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
