Lycoming 80, Scranton 77

Williamsport, Pa. — The University of Scranton overcame an 11-point deficit with less than four minutes remaining and had an opportunity to tie the game on its final possession, but ended up dropping an 80-77 decision to Lycoming College in Freedom Conference action Wednesday evening at Lamade Gymnasium.

Junior forward Brian O’Donnell, who finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, scored on a layup with 46 seconds left to cut the Warrior lead to three, 80-77. With three seconds remaining, freshman guard Sean Clark, who finished with 10 points, came up with a steal to give the Royals an opportunity to tie the game, but Scranton turned it over after coming out of a 30-second timeout.

Sophomore guard Matt Snyder led the Royals, now 3-17 overall and 1-8 in the Freedom Conference, with 17 points and freshman guard Mike McGowan added 15. Freshman forward Patrick Clabby had 12 points for Scranton, which shot 52.9 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes of play.

Jeremiah Edison connected on 9 of 10 field goal attempts to lead Lycoming, now 14-5 overall and 6-2 in league play, with a game-high 22 points and L.J. Huggler added 18. The Warriors connected on 31 of 52 field goal attempts (59.6 percent) and held a 41-24 rebounding advantage.

The Royals will host the Rangers of Drew University as part of Wall of Fame Day activities at the Long Center this Saturday, February 7, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
