Superior, languishing in eighth place in the nine-team conference, was was 4-1 against conference teams at Gates Fieldhouse, but the Blue Devils hung another loss on Superior, despite a poor night of shooting from the floor. Front-runner UW-Whitewaer was the only other conference team to defeat Superior in Superior.
The Blue Devils (12-8, 6-6) shot only 37 percent on the game, hitting 27-of-73 shots. Superior (9-11, 4-8) was no better from the floor, shooting 33 percent (20-of-61). The Yellowjackets certainly didn't help their own cause by launching the long ball, hitting only 8-of-30 3-pointers.
Stout was led by Jeff Vandenberghe and Greg Chaisson with 18 points apiece. Terry Farmer responded to his sixth start of the season with 15 points.
Nate Templer helped Stout to dominate off the boards, pulling down 11 rebounds as Stout held a 51-43 advantage in rebounds.
Superior got 18 points from Marc Rothschadl, 11 from Matt Bailey and 10 from Laron Reed. The 'Jackets leading scorer, Cory Kastern, was held to seven points.
