Colby-Sawyer 105, Wentworth 74

New London, N.H. — The Colby-Sawyer College men’s basketball team produced its highest offensive output of the year in a 105-74 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) home victory over the Wentworth Institute of Technology at the David L. Coffin Field House. The Chargers (13-4, 9-1 CCC), who extended their CCC, regular season, home winning streak to 53 games, connected on a season-best 56.9 percent (41-for-72) of their field goal attempts, and were 24-for-36 (.667) in the second half.
Tied at 10-10 in the early going, Colby-Sawyer scored six straight points en route to a 14-3 run. The Chargers extended the margin to 17 (49-32) at the break and did not let the Leopards (4-13, 4-5 CCC) drawn any closer than the 13 (65-52) in the final period.
Colby-Sawyer’s Chris Condon (JR, Reading, MA/Reading Memorial HS) scored a career-high 27 points, while teammate Andrew St. Clair (SO, Pittsfield, ME/Maine Central Institute) notched his ninth double-double of the campaign on 20 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Tyler Putnam (SO, Hodgdon, ME/Hodgdon HS) and Chris Gray (SR, Hermon, ME/Hermon HS) tallied a dozen points apiece for the Chargers, and Collin Bray (SO, Brookline, MA/New Hampton (NH) Prep) had nine points and nine assists.
Five Wentworth players scored in double figures, including Chris Yost (SR, Madison, NJ/Madison HS) and Josh Taylor (JR, Cambridge, MA/Matignon HS) who each had 14 points. Taylor also paced the Leopards with eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals off the bench. Matthew Zeszotek (FR, Middleburg Heights, OH/Midpark HS) contributed 13 points as David Iannotti (SR, Sandwich, MA/Sandwich HS) and Tim Callahan (JR, Clinton, CT/The Morgan School) both added 11.
Colby-Sawyer will host Amherst, the nation’s third-ranked team, on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Wentworth also returns to the court on Thursday for an 8:00 p.m. conference road game at the University of New England (Biddeford, Maine).
