Kari Christianson scored a career-high 14 points and added six rebounds for the Knights (18-1, 15-1 MIAC). Beth Freeman added 12 points and five rebounds for Carleton and twin sister Katie Freeman was also in double figures with 11 points.
The win was the sixth consecutive for the Knights and their 10th straight home win. Carleton is now alone in first place in the MIAC standings, a half game ahead of the College of St. Benedict. The Blazers' game with St. Mary's University was postponed until next Monday due to poor road conditions in the Winona area.
Afton Hanson paced Macalester (0-19, 0-16 MIAC) with 22 points and eight rebounds. Sarah Jacoby was also in double figures with 12 points.
The Scots hung tough in the early going, leading 15-14 with 11:31 left on a Hanson jumper. The Knights took over for the next eight minutes, however, outscoring the Scots 18-0 to take a commanding 32-15 lead. The Knights led 40-20 at the break.
Carleton closes out its seven-game home stand by hosting St. Mary's University on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. The Scots host Gustavus Adolphus College at 7:30 p.m.
