Elms 90, Thomas 76

CHICOPEE, Ma. — Sophomore forward James Vassar (Waterbury, CT) had a team-high 17 points to give Elms College a convincing 90-76 victory over Thomas College in Sunday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Elms College (6-11 overall, 6-5 NAC) fell victim to an 11-2 run by Thomas College (4-13 overall, 3-8 NAC) 2:30 into the first half. The Blazers responded with an 11-1 run, highlighted by a 3-pointer by junior guard Kyle Seyboth (Seekonk, MA) to give the Blazers a 13-12 lead.

From there, the Blazers never trailed again and shot 56.8-percent from the field in the opening half en route to a commanding 54-34 lead at intermission.

The Blazers had four players reach double figures. Freshman guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY) had 15 points and a team-high seven assists, Seyboth had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and senior forward Ernest Hughes (Dorchester, MA) had 10 points.

Sophomore guard Dan Grappi (Georgetown, MA) tallied a game-high 18 points and sophomore forward James Godley (Brookton, ME) added 10 points for the Terriers in the loss.

Elms College travels to NAC foe Lasell College Thursday, February 5. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
