The teams fought back-and-forth through the first 12 minutes until an 11-2 St. Norbert run opened a 33-23 advantage for the Knights at the 4:32 mark of the first half. Aaron Faulkner then gave the Knights a 44-32 lead after hitting all three of his free throw attempts eight seconds before halftime.
St. Norbert ripped off 13 of the first 16 points of the second half and took a commanding 57-35 lead after a triple by Austin Washington at the 16:23 mark. The Presidents closed to within 15 points (65-50) with 7:35 remaining after a trey by sophomore guard Jon Koch (New Kensington, Pa./Plum), but could not get any closer.
Koch led the W&J effort with 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting. Sophomore point guard Anthony Hairston (Roanoke, Va./Roanoke Catholic) added 12 points, while sophomore center Steven Berk (Heath, Ohio/Lancaster) supplied eight points and four rebounds off the bench. W&J was limited to 39 percent (21-of-54) shooting.
Eric DeJardine led the Knights (4-4) with 18 markers, while Brandon Hansen turned in a 17-point, eight-rebound performance. St. Norbert shot 44 percent (27-of-61) and had 20 assists.
Washington & Jefferson (2-8) travels to Frostburg State on Tuesday evening for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
