The Most Valuable Player of the tournament was Randolph-Macon senior guard Justin Moyer. Named to the all-tournament team was his teammate, junior forward Justin Wansley, plus junior forward Jonathan Pribble from Lycoming, Merchant Marine senior forward Joe Hart, and junior guard Matt Keys from Dickinson.
Randolph-Macon was led in the championship game by junior forward Justin Wansley, with a team-high 20 points, plus eight rebounds. He shot 9-for-15 (60.0%) from the floor, including 2-of-3 (66.7%) three-pointers. Also for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore forward Philip Hawley totaled 15 points on 6-of-10 (60.0%) shooting, plus nine rebounds – seven of those defensive. Sophomore guard Adam Krovic added 10 points and four rebounds off the bench.
Lycoming’s only lead came early, as junior guard Patrick Baylor nailed a three-pointer off an assist by senior center Jeremiah Edison less than one minute into the contest. Back-to-back Randolph-Macon layups – one by Hawley and another by sophomore guard Loren Sisson – put the Yellow Jackets ahead 4-3, and they would not trail again. In the first half, Randolph-Macon’s biggest advantage was 18 points, 41-23, with 4:49 left before the break. The halftime margin was 14 points, 47-33.
The lead was never below double digits in the second period. The Yellow Jackets were ahead by as many as 27 points, 63-36, after Wansley made a three-pointer off an assist by senior guard Justin Moyer with 13:35 on the clock. A 20-5 run by Lycoming over a span of eight minutes reduced the deficit to 12 points, 68-56, with a little less than six minutes remaining. But that was as close as the Warriors would get. Randolph-Macon outscored Lycoming 20-10 the rest of the game.
Following the performances by Wansley, Hawley, and Krovic, Randolph-Macon’s Moyer finished with nine points and a game-high six assists. Junior guard Patrick Gill and freshman center Andrew Baker each scored eight points. Gill made both of his three-point attempts.
