Transy (8-1), which won for the seventh straight time, trailed St. Norbert (Wis.) 36-27 at intermission. But the Pioneers outscored the Knights (3-4) 41-14 in the second half to win going away.
Matt Finke scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half as Transy hit 11 of 23 shots (47.8 percent) to just 24 percent (six of 24) for St. Norbert. Finke also had six rebounds and seven assists, to go with four blocks, for the Pioneers.
Sophomore Joey Searle continued his hot offensive streak by leading the Pioneers with 20 points, 15 in the first half. He was seven of 12 from the field and three of seven from three point range. He also had six rebounds and two steals. He has 75 points in his last three games.
Transy shot 48.8 percent from the field for the game compared to 38.8 percent for St. Norbert. Transy was also 19 of 23 from the free throw line compared to just five of 13 for the Knights.
Bryan Howard added nine points to the Transy attack. St. Norbert had two players in double figures: Brandon Hansen with 12 and Eric DeJardine with 10.
The Pioneers continue play Thursday in the Classic, meeting the winner of the Wooster-Washington and Jefferson game at 7:30 p.m. Wooster (9-0) is ranked second in the nation.
Transy's next home game comes in the Heartland Conference opener against Defiance on Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Beck Center.
