DePauw 85, Emory 77

TAMPA, Fla. — Six Tigers scored in double figures as DePauw improved to 5-4 with an 85-77 win over Emory in the first game of the Tampa Bay Shootout. The Eagles dropped to 5-2 on the season and will face Babson in Thursday's consolation game. DePauw faces 12th-ranked and 9-1 Williams in the championship game. Emory jumped out to an early 9-4 lead before the Tigers put together a 13-1 run to take the lead for good. DePauw led at the break, 40-28 and quickly extended it to 15 on five straight points by Brian Oilar early in the second half. The Tigers led by as many as 19 before the Eagles closed to within five on a couple of occasions in the closing minutes.

Oilar and Todd Capes each scored 15 with all of Oilar's points coming in the second half. Steve Schott and Reid Sakel each scored 13 with Joey Hanger and Alex Stewart each chipping in 12. Jeff Hall paced Emory with 26 followed by Rashawn Allen with 17 and Chase Fawsett with 16. Capes and Schott each had five rebounds for DePauw with four Eagles grabbing five each. The Tigers shot 50 percent from the floor and connected on 29 of 46 free throws in the win.
