The Auggies led by as many as five in the first half and 22-21 with 8:42 left before the Eagles went on a 10-0 run for a 31-22 lead. UW-L led 40-34 at halftime. Augsburg cut the lead to 42-38 early in the second half, but UW-L went on a 8-0 run. The Auggies cut it to 60-55 with 6:54 remaining in the game before the Eagles went on a 8-1 run and Augsburg could get no closer than eight points the rest of the game.
Jana Merchlewitz led four UW-L players in double figures with 17 points. She added four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Nicole Palmer scored a career-high 16 points while also finishing with five rebounds and two assists. Katy Searing recorded her fifth career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Leslie Matson had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
UW-L shot 37.5% from the field, including 40.0% (eight-of-20) from three-point range. The Eagles shot 75.0% (15-of-20) at the free throw line.
Rosinta Stromquist and Katie Kelsey led Augsburg with 12 points. The Auggies shot 45.9% from the field, including 25.0% (two-of-eight) from three-point range. Augsburg shot 58.3% (seven-of-12) at the line and finished with 26 turnovers.
UW-L travels to Wisconsin Lutheran College Thursday, December 30 for a 7 p.m. start.
