The game got off to a fast start in the Feldman Arena with each school shooting an impressive 60 percent each in the first half as Baruch (8-2) took a two-point halftime lead (49-47) against Fitchburg State (1-8).
The hot shooting continued in the second half, but Baruch managed to build a double-digit lead (80-70) on a lay up by Sime Marnika with 7:58 remaining.
Fitchburg State fought back to cut the deficit to as low as four points (84-80) on a three-pointer by Matt Collins (12 points) with 2:39 left, but Baruch came out of a timeout with an 8-1 run to put the game away.
Robi Davidson scored 17 points off the bench (6-9 FG), while Chris Alesi scored 12 points and dished out 11 assists.
Nick Smith led Fitchburg State of Massachusetts with 16 points.
Baruch will face the tournament hosts Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the championship game.
WCSU advanced to the championship by defeating Wentworth Tech of Boston, 89-62, in the first game of the tournament doubleheader.
