The Seahawks took a commanding 43-23 lead at halftime, shooting 55.2 percent (16-29) from the field. Senior forward Jeffrey Turner helped get the Seahawks out in front by scoring 15 points in the opening 20 minutes of play, with Engelstad adding 12 points in the opening stanza.
The Seahawks opened the second half with a 6-2 run to open their largest lead of the contest at 24 points and held a double digit lead throughout most of the second half. The Builders narrowed the deficit to nine points just once with three minutes remaining on a three-point field goal from Curtis Pender.
Guard Charles Holiday led the Builders (3-8) with 27 points in the contest. Forward Nathan Robinson posted a double-double with 16 points and a game-high tying ten rebounds, with forward Curtis Pender adding 15 points before fouling out late in the contest.
Engelstad led the Seahawks with his 28 point performance while Turner chipped in with 20 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Junior guard Ben Stewart added ten points and also tied for game-high honors with five assists in the contest.
The Seahawks (4-5) will return to action on Monday, January 3, when they travel to the Christopher Newport University tournament. The Seahawks will face New Jersey City in the opening game beginning at 6:00 p.m.
