Shane Sowden (Wilmington, DE /St. Elizabeth’s) went 7 for 8 from the field and hit 5 of 6 shots from the line to lead all scorers with 19 points. Catholic’s junior forward also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Pat Satalin (Syracuse, NY / Westhill), Scott Fumai (Rockville, MD / Good Counsel), and Tim Burke (Wall, NJ / Christian Brothers Academy) each tallied 11 points for Catholic, while Patrick Dwyer chimed in with 10.
Poor shooting and Catholic’s domination on the glass plagued the Terror. McDaniel clicked on just 19 of 53 shots (35.8%), and was outworked in the rebounding department by a 40-26 margin. Catholic made good on 29 of its 53 field goals.
The Terror kept it close through the first ten minutes, but never fully recovered from a 10-0 Catholic run which spanned the better part of four minutes. McDaniel got within eight points several times, but never seriously threatened the rest of the way.
Kyle O’Connor (Columbia, MD / Mt. St. Joseph’s) led McDaniel’s offensive effort with 16 points. He and Chris Rutland (Severna Park, MD / Archbishop Spalding) were the Terror’s top rebounders with 4 apiece. Mike DiPiero (Huntington Valley, PA / Lower Moreland) scored 11 points and added four dimes to the Terror cause.
With the loss, McDaniel slides to 2-6 on the season, while Catholic improves to 6-2.
