Waynesburg 85, La Roche 68

WAYNESBURG, Pa. — The Waynesburg College men's basketball team mounted a 12 and 19-point run in the second half against La Roche en route to an 85-68 victory. The Yellow Jackets scored the last 19 points of the contest, spanning 6:45, to take the final lead change of the night.

The Jackets (3-5) shot a season-best 50 percent (8 of 16) from three-point territory and committed a season-low 12 turnovers. Waynesburg made three straight three-pointers when trailing La Roche 68-64 with almost seven minutes left in the game.

WC shot an astounding 63 percent from the field in the second half (17 of 27), including 5 of 7 from beyond the arc. In the first half in which the Jackets shot 34.2 percent from the floor and 3 of 9 from three-point territory, including a buzzer beater by sophomore Marc Lodovico.

Lodovico led the team with 12 points on 3-of-8 attempts from the field, including 3 of 4 from beyond arc.

For the third consecutive game, freshman reserve forward Josh Parisi scored in double figures. Parisi netted 11 points and seven rebounds in 18 minutes of action.

Shawn Coleman added 10 points for Waynesburg, while reserve guard/forward Ryan Bujnowski had eight points and a team-high nine rebounds in 20 minutes.

Senior guard Demetris Pringle scored a game-high 16 points for the Redhawks, who opened the second half with an 11-3 run to make the score 45-38.

La Roche held a 10-point lead in the second half, 52-42, before Waynesburg went on a 12-0 run to take a 54-52 lead. The lead would change hands three more times prior to the Jackets game-ending 19-0 run.

Waynesburg returns to action following the Christmas holiday at the Marietta Shrine Tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 29 against the host-Pioneers for an 8 p.m. start. Manchester (Ind.) and Thomas More (Ky.) will meet in the tournament opener at 6 p.m.
