After leading by eight points (33-25) at halftime, North Central took control in the second half and led by as many as 23 points at one point.
Two baskets by Walton along with a jumper from Wilson and an inside score from Adam Krumtinger (Towanda, Ill./Normal Community) gave the Cardinals a 43-30 lead with just three minutes into the second half. Later, a layup by Krumtinger and two free throws by Dan Doyle (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) gave North Central a commanding 62-39 lead with 9:39 on the clock.
In addition to his 16 points, Walton also added nine rebounds, two blocks, three steals and three assists. Wilson also contributed seven rebounds and three assists. Krumtinger chipped in 10 points. Damon Krohn was the only Kalamazoo player to finish in double figures with 10 points.
