The senior forward was 3-for-3 from the field, grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists and made a steal during the five-minute extra session to finish with nine rebounds, nine assists and three steals. The 22 points he scored in the non-conference win is only one shy of his career-high performance.
The Gophers (6-2) overcame a three-point deficit in the final :20 of regulation, picking up one point on a free throw by Cameron Brown. Brown missed his second attempt at the charity stripe, but Quinn rebounded the miss and put it back in to create a 74-74 tie with :11 showing on the clock. The Braves (3-7) had a chance to regain the lead when Trayvon Lathan was fouled with :08 remaining, but he went to the foul line and missed both attempts.
Goucher's first two possessions in overtime resulted in baskets by Quinn as the Gophers assumed a 78-74 advantage. Chowan did get as close as 79-78 on a pair of free throws by Montino Williams midway through the overtime period, but head coach Leonard Trevino's squad responded with a run of eight unanswered points to open up an 87-78 lead. Quinn got the decisive 8-0 run started with a conventional three-point play before picking up assists on baskets by Brown and Kevin Green.
Brown and Jermaine Saunders supplied the Gophers with 20 points apiece, new career-high totals for both players. Brown also pulled down 10 rebounds.
Williams captured scoring honors for Chowan as he knocked down 20 points.
Tonight's win gives Goucher its first 6-2 start to a season since 1998-99.
