Illinois College 98, MacMurray 89JACKSONVILLE,Il. — It was a typical game when cross town rivals Illinois College and MacMurray College get together. The end result was a 98-89 win for the visiting Blueboys as they improved to 4-4 on the year. The host Highlanders got off to a slow start, were down by 14 at half, down by 25 with 15 minutes to go and their late rally came up a little short. Arnold led I. C. with 22, Dudley netted 17, Bachman 14, Womble 11 and Hurliman 10 as the Blueboys held on at the end. Robinson had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Highlanders. Seth Whalum knocked down 5 treys for 15 points, McIntosh scored 14 and Eberhart 13 as MacMurray fell to 3-6 on the season. Poor free throw shooting was part of the Highlanders prbomen as they made only 11 of 23 and shot 47.8% for the game. Once again they fell short of their 100 shot goal as they were only able to put up 89 shots and they were 13 short of their 3-point goal of 40 shots. In the games where they have been able to shoot 98-100 shots they have won, so they will continue to work on putting the ball up and not working it around so much. A lot of what they are able to do however is obviously influenced by their opponents defense. After saturday's game in Pella, Iowa they will go to Italy for about 5 games, then come home to their conference opener against the Panthers of Principia College.
