Juniata (3-7) took an 8-0 lead in the first six minutes and did not allow a W&J field goal until freshman center Steven Berk (Heath, Ohio/Lancaster) hit a jumper at the 12:39 mark. The Eagles then ripped off 11 of the next 13 points to hold a 19-4 lead with 8:02 remaining in the first half.
After holding the 21-point halftime advantage, the Presidents could not get closer than 22 points (37-15) during the final 20 minutes of play.
Travis Boyd led four Eagles in double digits with 14 points and eight boards. Chris Jasiota also netted 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Juniata held a 39-28 edge on the glass and shot 54 percent (28-of-52) in the victory.
Sophomore guard Jon Koch (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) led 12 Presidents in the scoring column with nine points. He also added three assists. Freshman forward Greg Stuckey (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) totaled a career-high seven points, four rebounds and two steals in 18 minutes of action.
Washington & Jefferson (2-6) shot 39 percent (24-of-62), including just 6-of-29 from three-point range.
The Presidents will return to action on December 29th and 30th at the Wooster Tournament.
