Kings Point 84, York (N.Y.) 65

JAMAICA, N.Y. — The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's basketball team, playing for the first time in 10 days, shot 52.5 percent from the floor Tuesday night at York Gymnasium, as the Mariners ran their winning streak to four games with an 84-65 victory over host York College.

USMMA (4-1) scored 25 of the first 30 points of the contest, and was up at halftime by a 50-21 count. Senior team captain Josh Buck (Warsaw, Ind.) scored 10 of his game-best 17 points in the opening frame, and shot 4-for-6 from the field.

The Mariners scored eight of the first 10 points of the second half, and went up by a 70-28 score halfway through the session following a lay-in by Zach Wyatte (Jr. - Camp Hill, Pa.), who scored 10 points on the night on 5-for-6 shooting. At that point, head coach Chris Carideo called off the dogs and the Blue and Gray sailed on to the victory.

Buck also led all players with eight rebounds, while sophomore Brian Kelly (Belle Harbour, N.Y./Abp. Molloy) was 4-for-6 from the field in scoring 10 points. Freshman Jimmy Sanders (Katy, Texas) registered a career-high four assists.

York (2-7) had three players -- Reyaad Mohamed, Kwesi Liverpool and Christopher Simpson (6-for-6 from the field) -- score 13 points apiece in a losing effort.

USMMA is back in action for the final time before Christmas break Saturday afternoon (Dec. 18), when the Mariners play at William Paterson (N.J.) in a 1 p.m. tip-off.
